The Hamblen County Third JudicialDistrict Felony Recovery Court marked a significant milestone with its first graduation ceremony, honoring Serena White as the inaugural graduate. Held atFirst Baptist Church, the event brought together local leaders, government officials, and supporters to celebrate this transformative achievement.
The program, launched in June 2021, offers voluntary, treatment-based recovery for individuals battling substance use disorders. Participants undergo a rigorous 18- to 24-month program that includes five phases of intensive treatment, case management, and supervision.Recovery Court Judge Beth Boniface highlighted Serena’s journey, praising her resilience, growth, and ability to overcome immense trauma to reclaim her life.
Serena expressed heartfelt gratitude, crediting the program with giving her the tools to heal and thrive. "This program has saved my life. Recovery court is my saving grace," she shared.
Hamblen County Mayor Bill Brittain presented Serena with a proclamation recognizing her accomplishment, applauding her strength and transformation.
With this first graduation, the RecoveryCourt team is optimistic about the program’s future, aiming to help more individuals build healthier, brighter futures.
